The Yuntiandu Glass Bridge spans the Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon at roughly 300 metres above the canyon floor and 430 metres across for several years the longest and highest glass-bottomed bridge in the world. Crossing it takes ten minutes and a certain amount of nerve; the panels are load-tested well beyond anything the crowd puts on them, but the sightline straight down is unforgettable.
The bridge is only part of the day. The canyon route continues on a well-built walking trail that descends past waterfalls and through a cool, wooded gorge to the river at the bottom, where a short boat ride returns you toward the exit. It’s one of the more comfortable walks in the region, shaded, mostly downhill, and considerably quieter than the mountain parks.
Two optional add-ons run from the bridge: a zip line across the canyon, and a long mountain slide. Both are paid separately on site and can be booked on the day.
Bridge tickets are capped daily and often sell out. Book early in peak season.
